DDK&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/asir.create.aau.dk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/investors-innovation-fund-denmark.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17\" width=\"607\" height=\"130\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The project content:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of ASIR is to develop a working prototype of an automatic sewer<br>\ninspection system as illustrated below. The goal will be reached through three objectives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) To develop an autonomous robot to allow much more frequent, efficient and safe<br>\ninspection of the otherwise difficult-to-access areas inside sewage pipelines. A<br>\nsmall and lightweight robot platform that can carry a sensor suite, lighting, battery<br>\nand onboard processing capability. The robot will include an algorithm that can<br>\nnavigate and control the robot platform in pipes with a diameter down to 20cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) To develop an AI vision solution for automatic diagnostics and annotation of the<br>\ncondition of a pipe system based on video from the robot. An algorithm capable of<br>\ndetecting and classifying the abnormalities in a pipe is expected to perform better<br>\nthan the traditional manual inspection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) To develop an asset management system with Big Data to use the frequent<br>\ninspection data with a time dimensional analysis and with GIS and other data to<br>\nunderstand and minimize asset repair and maintenance costs. ASIR will result in a<br>\nparadigm shift within the field of pipe inspection.
